Have first-hand experience working in a real railway signal box
After seeing the first locomotive out of the depot, you will be you will be stationed at the busiest signal box on the line to signal the passing trains. You will direct different types of locomotives which travel along the railway daily, including steam engines and heritage diesel trains. If you’re a big train fanatic this experience will give you the ideal opportunity to experience the railway from a completely different perspective.
You may arrive at Rolvenden Station at 9am to begin your signal box experience. You will receive a full briefing and instructions on the signalling system used at the railway. Once you are confident with the system you will be stationed at the busiest signal box along the line, where you will be able to signal to the passing trains throughout the day. A packed lunch will be provided for you to enjoy. At the end of the day you will be presented with a certificate to commemorate the day and some souvenirs to take home.

Information and Restrictions
Upon purchasing this experience you will be sent a voucher valid for ten months for one person. The experience is not available during January and November. Participants must be at least 18 years of age, have a reasonable level of fitness and must not be on any medication in order to participate. Participants over 70 years of age require a doctor’s note in order to participate.
